An Offal Tale!
Okay so who celebrated Burns Night in traditional fashion with Haggis, Neeps & Tatties last Friday night? We have to confess that the MC management team were shamefully unpatriotic & headed to the Crabshakk for a seafood extravaganza. Mind you it was Scottish seafood so we might just get away with it. Fab seared scallops, tempura squid, crabcakes & some ridiculously tasty salt & pepper squid. The salt & pepper squid served with a minty raita is the tastiest dish we’ve eaten so far this year. Errrr, cheers Rabbie!
Still on the Haggis front – we will get another bite of the cherry…..or should we say bite of the sheep’s stomach….tonight at the Royal Navy’s Burns Supper at Glasgow University. Always a fantastic night with a seriously lively atmosphere of the type that Burns himself would surely have approved – this is one of our favourite events of the year & we are looking forward to it immensely.
While still on this tack – we think it’s an outrage that the USA continues to ban importation of Scottish haggis. This ban has stood now since 1980. It seems somewhat ironic given that we allow US companies to sell tens of millions of their gunk-filled “burgers” in the UK. Any chance of the UK banning that anti-food anytime soon??? We think not sadly.
Our in-house photographer Lucy will be on hand tonight to capture the essential images of the night. Look out for some snaps here on the website soon & don’t forget to keep up to date with all our current activities (& musings!) at www.facebook.com/millarcatering
